Horse Creek Tree Farm is
truly family owned and operated. From planting tree
seedlings in the spring to harvesting mature trees in the winter
to making wreaths and roping, family members do it all. The farm
has been in the family since the 1940's. The land was
originally owned by Gwyn and Opal Stansberry. At that
time, corn, tobacco and pole beans were the crops of choice.
In the 1970's, the land was passed on to his son and
daughter-in-law, Joseph and Brenda Stansberry. Joseph
planted the first Fraser Fir Christmas trees on the family land
in 1989. This consisted of approximately 4500 trees.
In 1990's, after marrying Joseph's daughters, Julie and
Jennifer, Kevin Jones and Thomas Russell joined the farming
operation. The family has grown a lot since the inception
of Horse Creek Tree Farm, and Joseph and Brenda are proud
grandparents four times over. Ada (6 years old), Josie (4
years old), Abigail (3 years old), Will (2 year old), Eimmie
(six weeks old) are
the next generation of Horse Creek Tree Farm.
We grow
trees on the Family farm in the Blue Ridge
Mountains of Ashe County, North Carolina.
